Deutsche Börse invested $200 million in Kraken, and more and more institutions are turning to cryptocurrencies.

Deutsche Börse has acquired a $200 million stake in the US-based Kraken platform, a move that reflects traditional financial institutions’ growing interest in the digital currency market.

The deal is a new sign of the deepening relationship between the traditional financial world and the cryptocurrency industry, as it estimates the value of the Kraken parent company at approximately $13.3 billion.

The investment follows significant progress for Kraken earlier this year when it became the first digital currency trading platform in the United States to gain access to a Federal Reserve account, representing an important step in the industry’s integration with the traditional financial system.
