News of the upcoming Cardano network hard fork, called van Rossem, arrived on the testnet (Preview) on May 5, as Intersect – a member organization that manages the integration of technology – has been confirmed. Cardano – Starting the administrative process and releasing the beta of Cardano Node 11.0.1 at the same time.
This brings Protocol Version 11 one step closer to… Main network (mainnet), and the necessary changes are now shifting to the preparation of group operators (SPOs); At least 85% of the work area must be upgraded before the process can proceed with approval.
For those with ADA who are looking at Age of Voltaire control systems in action in real time, this beta version is working exactly as planned.

Node 11.0.1 is the first version to support Cardano’s intra-era hard fork, meaning the network upgrades the protocol without leaving the Conway era.
Thanks to this machine, the nature of the exchange will not change, and the disruption to the environment will be reduced to a minimum. The release also includes an upgrade of the cardano-api and cardano-cli tools to the 11.0 series, and pushes the hard fork test target to protocol version 12, indicating that the development pipeline is already looking beyond that.
This package creates five new Plutus programs, identified in Improvement Proposals (CIP) 0109, 0132, 0133, 0138, and 0153, and integrates systems developed within Plutus V1, V2, and V3. The importance of this last point is that the existing smart contracts (V1 and V2) will be able to access all of the developers’ work after the hard fork, increasing the capabilities of decentralized applications (DApps) without the need to rewrite contracts.
The margin of 85% of the active metals is not just changes, but the requirements of the rules that come from the Cardano control system.
Under the rules of the Voltaire Era on-chain governance model, the hard fork governance action cannot be approved until the pool operators (SPOs) representing at least 85% of the participating units upgrade to a support version of Protocol 11. The representative representatives (DReps) and the Constitutional Committee must also vote before the operation begins.
The idea of this part is to avoid chain splitting. If the critical mass of block-making nodes does not upload, the network is at risk of creating inconsistent blocks on a hard fork, the same error that split the mainnet at the end of 2025 when the wrong combination of delegates forced the operators to make emergency repairs to update 10.5.3. This incident showed that pool workers’ coordination is not a routine, but a real safety measure.
Although the current number of users on the testnet has not been confirmed, historical trends from previous Cardano updates, including changes to Chang’s changes, show that the first wave of large pools, which are managed professionally, will be uploaded within the first 72 to 96 hours of the beta. As for the smaller, home-run cases, they are usually delayed by a week or two.

The Intersect announcement was straightforward:
“Warning
The van Rossem hard fork governance system was introduced to the Preview testnet today. Cardano Node 11.0.1 beta is also available now. This version is necessary to successfully cross the hard fork. We encourage pool users, developers, and developers to upgrade quickly. “
Chang’s hard fork experience – where platform delays and suspended services delayed the opening of the mainnet even after users crossed the threshold – means that the pressure is now on the entire ecosystem, not just pool users.
A note Cardano update van Rossem: Node 11.0.1 release appeared for the first time Cryptonews Arabic.
